The Conference
The Canadian University Queer Services Conference is an annual conference that centres around addressing and discussing queer and trans issues common to post-secondary students in Canada. By coming together, we are able to work as one collective body of like-minded activists working to bring equality and fairness to queer and trans people nationwide. The Host
The UR Pride Centre for Sexuality and Gender Diversity is a non-profit LGBTQ service provider for the University of Regina. It is run by a group of volunteer directors from the University of Regina community (predominately students), and employs an Executive Director. Because UR Pride is the only funded human service agency for queer people in the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region, it is called on to provide services for that entire region.Over the past two years, UR Pride has undergone several exciting changes. Apart from renaming the organization from GBLUR Centre, we've designed and implemented a Positive Space Network for the University of Regina and surrounding area, successfully won the bit to host CUQSC 2012, become a prominent face for LGBTQ services both locally and provincially, and started a funded Queer Youth Group to provide Regina and area youth with a safe and welcoming space where they can ask questions and learn about Queer and Trans issues.
